The designs that have been acceptable in the past (but we are looking for something fresh)

This one has been running for a long time and has been great. It prints good in black and white and I just change the date each month. But I am now tired of it and want something new. This particular one is a 1x2 dimension ad. (1.85” x 2) This is my 'normal' ad.

 

This one was a special event design. designed with color, but printed black and white and it did OK.


The problem with this one is that printing black and white in a newspaper it was almost unreadable. Looked great but was not acceptable. We want our ads to POP and jump out at those glancing thru the newspaper.


This one was OK, it printed in a color insert. It didnt end up looking very good in print, not sure if it was the newspaper's way of printing it or if it was the design.


What I am looking for now is a 2x3 (3.7x3) black and white ad. Special event ad. Incorporating the following information. Feel free to try catch phrases based on the info I have given you. The method that usually works with me working with a designer is; #1 they review my info, #2 they throw together some rough design ideas and catch phrases (usually all put together with little versions on a pdf sheet so I can review them and say which ones I like and how to proceed).

After we do this deadline (Dec. 18 of 10AM CST) of this first ad, we will immediately start to work on a postcard with basically the same information on it, only a little more detailed because we will have more space. Full color. Deadline on postcard is December 27. On the postcard we will outline more about the classes and also about three weekend workshops coming up in 2010 (no space for those in the ad going in the newspaper).
